I'm focusing enough on my own writing and directing, and reading material that directly supports that, that I've completely missed the whole
Twilight phenomenon thus far. But about two weeks ago I was watching
Wings of Desire by Wim Wenders and had the brief thought that they (meaning the YA people) ought to explore angels (and demons?) to escape from the vampires/werewolves rut. Well, seems I'm a few steps behind the industry because Disney just optioned the film rights to the YA novel
Fallen by Lauren Kate. You can read all about it in the
Hollywood Reporter.

Now I just wish we could get American teenagers--let alone adults--to actually watch
